Usability & Integration Improvements
With the October Release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft brings more functionality to the product, bringing the on premise and cloud-based versions for Business Central closer together.
Vanilla have been closely following the upcoming changes to the Business Central product to give you a clear and simple explanation of the changes and how they can benefit your day to day operations.
The Tell Me feature is one of the primary ways to navigate and to get things done in Business Central. Whatever you want to do in Business Central, whether looking at options on the current screen, searching for another screen, opening reports or simply to access wider help documentation, the Tell Me search functionality is available to help.
The look and feel of Business Central has been improved to make better use of the available screen space and help your users be more productive.
With a modern and clean interface, Business Central allows your users to concentrate on the task at hand, taking advantage of the faster browser experience.
The application now responds to common keyboard shortcuts, CTRL+C and CTRL+V can be used to copy and paste rows and the F8 Button can be used to copy information from the cell above. These shortcuts greatly increase the speed at which repetitive data entry tasks can be completed.
Business Central now includes a dedicated filter pane for all list view screens. The pane allows you greater control of your search criteria and takes advantage of wildcard searching, mathematical operators, ranges and formulas, enabling you to find the information that interests you quicker. The filter remains applied for the duration of your session, reducing the need to re-enter your parameters each time.
With a standard set of Microsoft Power BI reports being deployed into your Business Central environment automatically, you can start to visualise your data and manage your reports directly from within Business Central.
Microsoft have done an excellent job of defining permission sets within Business Central to cover a wide range of roles and responsibilities in a wide range of industries. With the October release, you can create new permissions or copy and modify existing permission sets to fit the exact requirements for your individual business and your users.
For customers who are using on-premise versions of Dynamics Nav, Dynamics GP and Dynamics SL, you can now connect your on-premise applications to Business Central in the cloud. With your data being synchronised between your two environments, you can take advantage of Microsoft cloud solutions such as Power BI, PowerApps, Flow and Artificial Intelligence.
