"I think that we can achieve real cost savings, and IFS can deliver so much more functionality to our current system. We expect to see immediate benefits within our manufacturing division, our management information processes, it will improve our reporting and it gives us so much more flexibility"

Looking to replace its aging ERP system with a more scalable and flexible solution, healthcare and rehabilitation product manufacturer The Helping Hand Group turned to Vanilla and IFS to provide a comprehensive ERP platform that offers a clear development path together with continuous support.

Based in Herefordshire, UK, The Helping Hand Company has manufactured and supplied innovative healthcare and daily living aids for the past 60 years. The company specialises in four main strategic market sectors: Post-operative hip care and rehabilitation, static pressure management services, 24-hour postural care and sustainable environmental education and equipment.

With their legacy business system disintegrated and nearing the end of its lifecycle, The Helping Hand Company took to the market and through Vanilla, selected IFS Applications™ 10 to provide a fully integrated ERP solution. The scalable platform will provide improvements to their manufacturing, reporting and information processors as well as providing significant cost savings.

Matthew Hatcher, IT Project Manager at The Helping Hand Project, explained, “One of the main ideas of this project is that our Managing Director can easily overview everything and go from his management reports, to the components that make up those management reports, without having to ask anyone else. He will just be able to drill down through IFS Lobbies and find everything that he needs. Everything will be at his fingertips. That is what we are looking to deliver across the whole company, and I think we are going to achieve this with IFS.

“I think that we can achieve real cost savings, and IFS can deliver so much more functionality to our current system. We expect to see immediate benefits within our manufacturing division, our management information processes, it will improve our reporting and it gives us so much more flexibility. We will be able to move from a very disintegrated business landscape consisting of many manual processes and spreadsheets to one that is fully integrated across our entire operation.”

The Helping Hand Company’s search for an ERP solution has been wide and extensive. The company held a variety of liability meetings with a long and established list of ERP vendors to determine which companies were an initial fit. After this selection process, Vanilla and IFS were deemed to be the outstanding software and business partner for this project.

“I am confident that we have the right software, and I am confident that we have got the business partner”, added Mr Hatcher. “Having met a lot of ERP vendors and their business partners, I am happy with the choice we have made. Vanilla has very credible consultants that have a great deal of experience not just with IFS but in their respective areas of expertise, the project management side if very efficient and very slick. We have very clear line of communications and we have perfect clarity of cost and cost against budget.

“A real plus point about IFS was to see the application road map of development that not only fills our needs today but will continue to be able to add value as our business evolves and needs change. This was important to us as we are looking for a long and successful business relationship with Vanilla and IFS.

“The future is going to be one of continuous improvements as we have already identified during the exploratory sessions with the consultants’ areas where we can massively improve the company and achieve efficiency due to the flexibility of the solution.”
