New Non-executive Director to Support Growth

Vanilla Solutions has strengthened its position as one of the UK’s leading enterprise software specialists with the key appointment of a new non-executive director.

Paul Massey, one of the most experienced figures in the UK’s business systems world, has joined the Vanilla team after recently retiring as Managing Director of IFS Europe West. Paul led IFS’s operations in the UK, Spain, France and Portugal for more than 12 years and under his stewardship, the company grew to c. 350 employees and a turnover in excess of £95m.

Jason Belcher, Director at Vanilla, said: “We’re thrilled to have someone with Paul’s experience and stature on board. His track record of successful delivery at IFS and his deep knowledge of our industry are of great value to us. We’re a relatively young company with ambitions for growth, both in the UK and further afield and there probably isn’t anyone else better able to help us achieve this than Paul.

“Paul’s knowledge of the sector, of running a hugely-successful software and services company, and of course IFS applications will be invaluable to us and his advice is already making a difference.”

Lichfield-born Paul studied economics and accountancy at Loughborough University. He entered the world of work as a management accountant before he started to specialise in the implementation of accounting systems and subsequently made the move into the software industry.

Paul joined Avalon Software UK in 1993 and was then a key member of the small team from Avalon that started IFS UK in January 1997. He was Consulting Services Director there until 2006 when he was appointed Managing Director IFS Europe West. In this role he more than doubled the size of the regional operation, successfully integrated three UK acquisitions and sat on the IFS Group Core Executive Team, helping to steer a $500m global operation.

Paul said: “I was looking for an interesting non-exec role and I’d known Jason and his fellow co-founder Andy Bell for a long time – Jason as a customer and Andy as a former colleague at IFS. They didn’t take long to persuade me to join Vanilla.”

“I like what they’ve been doing and how they’ve been doing it; I get on well with them both personally and professionally and it’s an exciting time to be joining the Vanilla team. I’ve been impressed by their ambition and drive and I believe I can help them achieve their goals.”

“Vanilla have a great reputation for services and applications and now that they’re both an IFS services and channel partner, I can help them establish a strong sales process that will deliver the volumes of new business Vanilla are targeting.”
