Three Lakes - 35km - 12 hours

In September we held our Autumn company day, a scheduled event for our 30+ employees to meet up for training, personal development, knowledge sharing and the chance to catch-up socially with their colleagues over a drink or two

On the agenda was a vote for the Vanilla charity challenge for 2019.  In recent years we have completed Tough Mudder (for Help for Heroes) and Yorkshire Three Peaks (for the MS Society) and we wanted an equally physically challenging event for 2019

After a close vote, the employees chose the Three Lakes Challenge.  The challenge is to kayak the 3 longest lakes in England (35km in total) by sea kayak in under 12 hours – Coniston Water, Windermere, and Ullswater, which are all handily situated in the Lake District

As well as the event, we always look for a volunteer within the company who will take charge of the planning.  In return, they get to nominate the charity that will benefit from the sponsorship raised by the employees (over £9,000 last year).

This year, we are pleased to say that Lloyd Briggs, one of our developers, has put himself forward as organiser, and in turn nominated MIND as our chosen charity for 2019

Initial numbers are positive, over 12 employees have registered (and hopefully this public notice will spur a few others on – make sure you ask your Vanilla consultant next time you speak to them!)

More details will follow in 2019 as we get organised and as always, we thank our employees for their efforts in raising money for worthwhile causes
